Our mission
Get people onto the floor.
Trade shows are where sourcing actually happens. A buyer in Ohio meets a tannery in Sialkot. A private-label programme starts as a handshake at a booth in Orlando. A safety manager picks up a cut-resistant glove, works the seam with their thumb, and changes a specification that governs ten thousand pairs a year.
None of that happens over email.
Every buyer who does not make the trip is a deal that does not get made — and on the other side of it, every manufacturer who stays home is a supplier that a buyer never met. The cost of not going is invisible, which is exactly why it is so easy to keep not going.
Global Trade News exists to make that cost visible.
WHAT THAT MEANS IN PRACTICE
We tell buyers, importers and distributors precisely why a given show is worth the trip: who exhibits, what is on the floor, which sections match which product categories, what it costs, and what they will miss by staying home. We tell manufacturers the same thing from the other direction — which shows put them in a room with people who can actually place an order, and which ones will not.
We report what shows have delivered, not just what they promise. A buyer books a flight because of what a show did last year, not because of what its marketing says about next year. So the largest section in every article we publish is the one describing what actually happened at the most recent edition, with the numbers and their sources attached.
WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO CHANGE
More people on more floors. More buyers meeting more manufacturers face to face. A sourcing conversation that runs in both directions instead of one.
Trade grows when the people in it are in the same room. Our job is to get them there.
WHAT WE COMMIT TO
We will not inflate a show to sell a trip. A publication that talks buyers into a flight they should not have taken is worth nothing to them the second time. Every figure we publish is sourced and checkable, projections are labelled as projections, and when a show is not the right fit for a reader's category we say that too.
