Most large consumer-goods trade shows are organised around the brand. Manufacturers who want to reach those brands end up working the aisles between booths they are not part of, hoping to catch someone in a gap between meetings.
Global Pet Expo is organised differently, and the difference is worth understanding well before March 2027.
WHAT THE STRUCTURE ACTUALLY DOES
Two features set this show apart for anyone on the supply side.
The first is that it is closed. Global Pet Expo is a business-to-business event and is not open to the general public. Qualified attendees are independent retailers, distributors, mass-market buyers, manufacturers, suppliers and credentialed media. That means everyone walking past your booth has a business reason to be there — a filter most consumer-facing shows do not apply.
The second is the Supplier Pavilion: a dedicated section of the floor for suppliers, sitting alongside the specialty sections that organise the rest of the hall — The Natural Pet, The Modern Pet, Pet Sustainability, and Aquatics & Exotics. Booths run from 10ft by 10ft up to 50ft by 40ft, in linear, corner and island configurations.
WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME
The 2026 edition ran 25–27 March at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, in the South Concourse.
Organiser figures put the show at more than 21,000 registered badges, over 3,000 booths and more than 1,100 new product launches. The preceding edition drew close to 20,000 attendees from more than 105 countries with over 1,000 exhibitors. The programme included more than 50 sessions in the Global Learning Series, run by APPA and PIDA, alongside APPA's State of the Industry presentation.
The New Products Showcase is the part of the floor worth studying rather than skimming. The 2026 Best in Show winners included the Project Green supplement line from Project Sudz, Uproot Clean's Laundry Cycle Pro, and Open Farm's freeze-dried raw regeneratively sourced lamb lung — a spread across supplements, cleaning and treats.
That spread is itself the finding. The categories taking top honours at Global Pet Expo skew heavily toward consumables and formulation. Hard goods and accessories are on the floor in volume, but they are not where the showcase awards concentrate.
WHAT THAT MEANS IF YOU MAKE ACCESSORIES
It means the award programme is not the route in, and chasing it is a poor use of a booth budget.
The route in is the Supplier Pavilion and the specialty sections. A brand walking The Modern Pet or Pet Sustainability with a product idea and no production partner is exactly the conversation a Sialkot leather manufacturer can convert — and unlike at a showcase-led show, that brand is at Global Pet Expo specifically to do business, because the public cannot get in.
The eight-month runway to March 2027 is the real advantage here. Booth placement in the Supplier Pavilion, sample development for the specialty sections you intend to target, and outreach to brands on the published exhibitor list are all things that reward starting early. Suppliers who decide in January get whatever floor space is left.
THE SOURCING READ
- Closed to the public means a filtered floor. Everyone in the hall has a business reason to be there.
- The Supplier Pavilion is the entry point, not the New Products Showcase — the award categories skew to consumables and formulation.
- Target The Modern Pet and Pet Sustainability sections for brands most likely to need a production partner.
- Eight months out is the right time to plan. Booth placement and sample development both reward an early decision.
