About Global Trade News
WHAT WE ARE
Global Trade News is an independent trade publication covering the sourcing and manufacturing side of consumer and industrial goods. It was founded in March 2025 by Muhammad Musa and is based in Sialkot, Pakistan.
We cover four beats: sporting goods, leather goods, pet products, and personal protective equipment and workwear. Across all four, we report on the trade shows where buyers and manufacturers actually meet — what is on the floor, who is exhibiting, what categories are moving, and what it costs to be in the room.
WHAT WE ACTUALLY DO
Most of our reporting is show coverage, and it takes three forms.
Show reports. What happened at an edition — scale, exhibitor mix, which zones drew traffic, what was awarded, what organisers and attendees said afterwards. We publish figures with their source attached, and we say plainly when a number is a projection rather than a result.
Show previews. What a buyer or supplier should expect from the next edition: dates, venue, registration, floor layout, which sections matter for which product categories, and what to plan around.
The sourcing read. Every article carries a section written for the supply side — what a given show means for a manufacturer or importer specifically, rather than for a retail buyer. This is the part you will not find in most trade coverage, and it is the reason this publication exists.
Alongside the articles we maintain a running calendar of the sourcing shows we cover, with dates, venues, organisers and registration links.
WHY FROM SIALKOT
Sialkot manufactures a significant share of the world's hand-stitched footballs, work gloves, leather goods and pet accessories. It is one of the places the sourcing conversation is actually about, and it is almost never the place that conversation is reported from.
Nearly every trade publication reports from the buyer's side of the table — what is landing on shelves, what brands are launching. We report from the supply side. We read a Western trade show floor the way a factory owner reads it: which categories moved, what buyers were asking suppliers for, what the specification conversation sounded like, and what all of that means for the orders that get placed six months later.
WHO READS US
Sourcing managers, importers, private-label buyers, distributors and manufacturers across North America, Europe and South Asia.
MASTHEAD
- Muhammad Musa — founder and editor. He studied media and journalism in the United States and works inside Sialkot's manufacturing sector. Trade reporters rarely know what a specification sheet costs to fill. Sourcing people rarely know how to file. This publication runs on someone who does both.
- Muhammad Muntaha — co-founder, .
EDITORIAL STANDARDS
Sourcing. Every attendance figure, exhibitor count and square-footage number we publish comes from the organiser's own materials or from established trade press, and we name the source in the text. We do not publish estimates as facts.
Projections. Pre-show expectations and post-show results are different things and we word them differently. "Organisers expected more than 6,500" is not the same sentence as "the show drew 6,500."
Quotes. We do not publish a quote we did not obtain or verify in a published source, and we attribute every quote by name and title.
Our position. We argue openly that buyers and suppliers should attend these shows. That is an editorial position, not a hidden one, and we keep it separate from reported fact. Where we are making an argument, we say so.
Independence and funding.
Corrections. If we get something wrong, write to and we will correct it and note the correction on the article.
